Q. Is TAonline secure? Is my data protected?
A. Yes. The data is encrypted so as to provide protection over the Internet. All data is backed up nightly. Because TAonline employs password protection, no other store can access your information.
   
Q. Will MBS share or sell my data or information to bookstore contract management companies?
A. No. MBS will not share or sell your data with any bookstore management company. We put this in writing.
   
Q. What happens to my data if I decide to exit the agreement?
A. The data is saved both on hard disk and external media for protection and archival purposes and will be provided to you on request.
   
Q. What happens if the server hosting my TAonline store
in the MBS offices fails?
A. MBS has employed the most reliable server available, the IBM iSeries Server. The IBM iSeries Server availability rate is over 99.97%, and it employs state-of-the-art RAID technology to protect the disk drives and your data. MBS also protects the main customer service event on TAonline (buyback) with a buyback application loaded on a local PC in your store in order to provide backup and ensure that you always have the capability to purchase books electronically. The ability to submit ASAP orders is also protected as MBS Realtime Ordering would still be available to you in the event of a disruption in service on the TAonline server. Your Account Manager will assist you directly during such an event to ensure that you continue with little or no disruption in your textbook management activities.
   
Q. What happens if my Internet connection fails?
A. No data is lost. But, in the unlikely event your connection to the Internet fails, your MBS Account Manager is available to work with your store in real time until your connection is restored and you regain access.
   
Q. Are there issues with my campus firewall?
A. No. TAonline data appears like normal secured traffic to network routers and firewalls.
   
Q. What equipment do I need to use TAonline?
 
. A Pentium PC running Windows 98 or higher
. A laser printer attached to the PC workstation
(Network printers can also be accessed if configured on the PC.)
. High-speed Internet access via the campus backbone connection, DSL, or cable modem
. An Internet browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer v5.0+ or Netscape v4.0+)
   
Q. Is there a limit to the number of PC workstations and
users I can have accessing TAonline at any given time?
A. No. There is no limit to the number of PC workstations you can have accessing your store on TAonline. You are not tied to a single PC workstation to perform the text management activities for your store. You may have multiple people performing the same or different tasks on the TAonline application at the same time.
   
Q. Does the TAonline application affect any of
the other programs I have on my PC?
A. No. The application will not interfere with any other application you have on your PC.
   
Q. Can I access TAonline from my home or while traveling?
A. Yes. With a PC and a high-speed Internet connection, you can access your store anytime and anywhere.
   
Q. What type of backups or data saves do I need to perform?
A. None of any sort. MBS performs all backups and data saves for your store. This is done each day to both internal disk on the server and to media for off-site storage protection. You have no maintenance to perform on the server or the application. We do this for you.
   
Q. Do I have to load my textbook database or
future software enhancements?
A. No. MBS does this for you, ensuring that the most up-to-date MBS Database is available to you.
