Physical Inventory
Most bookstores are required to take a physical inventory at least once per year. This task may seem daunting, but it need not be if the right software and hardware is available to you and your staff.

Versatile MBS Physical Inventory Solutions provide efficient and cost-effective methods for taking and recording counts. Once the physical count is taken, the information is used to adjust the book inventory information (as maintained and shown by the system) to the actual on-hand inventory in the store(s). As a special safety feature, when a physical inventory is in progress, the system is date sensitive for posting inventory transactions. This allows you to continue with business as usual even though the physical inventory is in process.

A customized MBS PI Solution puts you in control of your count.
.	PI type can be selected by division, department, class, or store.
.	Document control is automatically established.
.	Inventory freeze is available so you can stay open and conduct business as usual during the count.

For your convenience, physical count data can be gathered and input into the MBS PI application via any of these methods:
.	Manual keying
.	Laptops equipped with gun scanners
.	MBS handheld mobile inventory units
.	Data upload (CD or other digital media provided by a third-party company responsible for doing the count)
