Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Bookstores looking to streamline processes are choosing the MBS Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solution. MBS EDI enhances TA2 and the Merchandise Control module by facilitating electronic communication between your bookstore and key vendors. With EDI, you can greatly reduce time spent faxing, making phone calls, keying invoices, and performing other labor-intensive ordering and receiving duties.

Purchase Orders
PO information is sent electronically to your EDI partners to initiate your orders. Your vendor database includes a flag for EDI-capable vendors and will prompt the buyer to send POs via EDI to any of the vendors flagged as such.

Purchase Order Acknowledgments
POAs are automatically generated by your EDI partners once they have received your PO. This provides confirmation that the order was transmitted successfully and lets buyers know which merchandise will be included in the order and the price of the items.

Advance Ship Notices
ASNs are generated by your EDI partners (those that support this feature) to advise you of pending shipments. ASNs include information such as ship date, expected delivery date, carton count, and often even carton contents for License Plate Receiving. This information allows you to utilize your personnel more effectively. In addition, the ASN can create and populate the Key Rec for receiving, eliminating the need for manual input.

Ingram PrimeSource
With PrimeSource, you’ll order trade titles from Ingram’s multiple distribution facilities. Ingram will then send you an ASN that automatically loads to your MBS receiving document for immediate posting. The Ingram invoice then arrives electronically and requires only your electronic submission to the AP program for processing. Best of all, Ingram PrimeSource employs zone shipping so orders are boxed according to the layout of your trade department, in turn expediting receiving and shelving.
