Contributing to the Columbia Community
With reputation comes responsibility, the responsibility of giving back to the community that has supported our company's mission and ventures over the years. At MBS, we do not take this responsibility lightly and we're always looking for new ways to contribute and positively affect others.
  • Partners in Education: MBS is one of four satellite school locations in the Columbia community. Since 1996, MBS has partnered with Columbia's Douglass High School and provided the institution with a classroom at the MBS facility. When class work is finished, half of the students work part time in various positions within the company, and the other half manage and staff an on-site deli service for MBS employees. Scholarships for textbooks are given to graduating seniors enrolled in higher education or vocational learning.
  • Columbia Area United Way: For years, MBS has supported local families in need by contributing to the Columbia Area United Way via corporate giving, employee donations, and volunteering. 
  • Keeping Missouri healthy and fit: MBS supports the Missouri State Special Olympics and participates in company sponsored events such as the Walk for Diabetes, the Cancer Relay for Life, the Heart Walk, and in-house blood drives.
  • Adopt-a-Family: MBS employees contributed enough funds in late 2004 to provide winter clothing and holiday gifts and meals for multiple Columbia families.
  • Supporting local businesses: In an effort to help Columbia businesses succeed, MBS has printed invitations and promotional fliers for First Night Columbia, a community-sponsored New Year's Eve event, and donated graphic design and printing services to the Missouri Symphony Society.
